FairTrade General Assembly on the way

The Fair Trade Alliance (FairTrade) will have a one-day General Assembly to launch the Nationalist Development Agenda (NDA) on February 20, 2007, which will be held at the Kalayaan Hall, Club Filipino, San Juan, Metro Manila.

Five years ago, FairTrade was formed to fight the ills of globalization: unfair trade and unfair competition that brought about the erosion of our agro-industrial base thereby resulting in loss of jobs and livelihood for our people mainly because of misguided economic and development policies. Throughout the years, the multi-sectoral alliance has been engaging the State through dialogue and consultation. It has also developed a framework for genuine economic revival and development for the country.

Today, FairTrade is forging and renewing that fight which bound them five years ago. With the theme: Nationalist Development Agenda: Towards Growth and Sustainability, the General Assembly will launch the NDA as the renewed framework of FairTrade. Coinciding with the launching will be the adoption of the Principles of the Alliance aimed at forging and renewing the commitments of FairTrade.

The book: “Nationalist Development Agenda: A Roadmap for Economic Revival, Growth, and Sustainability” outlines the road towards a more balanced, pragmatic and pro-Filipino approach to trade and development issues.
