FairTrade’s development agenda out now

Amid the political turmoil raging in the country, the multi-sectoral Fair Trade Alliance (FairTrade) has proposed a development agenda that will address the deteriorating state of the Philippine economy.

The 143-pages Nationalist Development Agenda (NDA) seeks to outline the root causes of the Philippine economic malaise and the alternative nationalist road to survival, recovery and sustained development.

FairTrade’s NDA is a collective effort as it has been subjected to rigorous debates and consultations with stakeholders and representatives of industry, agriculture, labor, informal sector, peasant movement, NGOs, youth and the academe. Their key recommendations and findings are reflected in FairTrade’s NDA.

FairTrade’s lead convenor Wigberto Tañada said, “We, at FairTrade, believe that the only way to move forward and catch up with the rest of Asia is for like-minded Filipinos to unite and work together in pursuit of a Nationalist Development Agenda mapping the road to genuine economic revival and sustainable growth and development for the country.”
